Following his departure from the Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC), Chamisa had been evasive about his next steps, hinting at a departure from traditional political paradigms. Emphasizing a shift towards a people-centric approach to governance, Chamisa articulated his vision for a movement that transcends the conventions of partisan politics, aiming to unite the populace around common causes, rather than internal power struggles.

Despite keeping his supporters guessing about the identity of his new endeavor, Chamisa inadvertently disclosed the name "Citizens Matter" while celebrating the release of Job Sikhala on social media. 

In this context, he underscored the continuous efforts towards securing the freedom of members of the Mthwakazi Republic Party, highlighting a dedication to addressing issues of political persecution and advocating for the release of individuals detained for their political affiliations.
