After being granted a wholly suspended two-year sentence for inciting public violence, veteran politician Job Sikhala has spoken out for the first time following his release from Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison.
Having spent 595 days behind bars, Sikhala was Nicodemously released on Tuesday, a day earlier than expected. In an exclusive interview with The NewsHawks, Sikhala shared his thoughts on his newfound freedom, expressing a lack of emotions and attributing his persecution to his unwavering love for Zimbabwe. "Absolutely this was an act of persecution.
What you have to understand is that, if somebody is convinced to say that I am suffering for a just cause, I am not feeling anything," Sikhala stated, emphasizing his determination to pay any price for the love of his country.
When questioned about his ability to endure the harsh conditions of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, Sikhala highlighted the importance of mental fortitude. "When you get into a very difficult situation, a proper revolutionary must be able to adapt to any situation. I had to make sure that I gather mental strength for me to be able to sustain myself in this situation," he explained.
Looking ahead, Sikhala revealed his plans to address the people of Zimbabwe and the world regarding his political future. Amid the confusion surrounding the Citizen’s Coalition for Change (CCC), Sikhala expressed his intention to clarify his stance.
