Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe - A day of celebration turned to tragedy when Panashe Mwinga, a bright new graduate of Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), lost her life in a horrific car accident just hours after receiving her degree.
Panashe, who had just earned her degree in Visual and Communication Multimedia, was traveling with her family along the Harare-Chinhoyi highway when their vehicle veered off the road near Mapinga on August 28, 2025. The car overturned, leaving all occupants with severe injuries.
While Panashe was rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital, she tragically succumbed to her injuries hours later. Her father, a chief government engineer, remains in critical condition, along with her mother, who suffered head trauma.

An 8-year-old sibling also sustained serious injuries, including broken legs.
"Panashe was a beacon of hope—her future was stolen too soon," a CUT spokesperson said.
