Edmonton, Canada – A cloud of profound grief has descended upon the Zimbabwean diaspora in Canada following a tragic car accident on July 11, 2025, that claimed the lives of two individuals, Anotida Maziriri and Edmore Mafuwe.
The pair were reportedly travelling to attend popular Zimbabwean musician Jah Prayzah's highly anticipated "Ndini Mukudzeyi" concert in Edmonton when the fatal incident occurred.

Families Launch Appeals for Repatriation and Burial Funds
In the wake of this sudden and immense loss, the grieving families of both Anotida Maziriri and Edmore Mafuwe have launched separate crowdfunding campaigns on GoFundMe. The urgent objective of these initiatives is to raise the necessary funds for the costly repatriation of their loved ones' bodies back to Zimbabwe for burial, as well as to cover associated funeral expenses.Fundraiser for Edmore Mafuwe
Tinashe Mazibiye, who is coordinating the fundraising efforts for Edmore Mafuwe, shared the aim of the campaign: to facilitate a dignified burial for Mafuwe in his homeland, Zimbabwe. Anotida was a bright light in our lives—kind, loving, and deeply cherished. This sudden loss has left our family devastated. We’re raising funds to help cover funeral costs and ease the financial burden during this difficult time. Any support is deeply appreciated."
As of late Sunday night, the campaign for Anotida Maziriri had successfully raised CAD $8,434, moving closer to its CAD $15,000 goal.
