Emmerson Mnangagwa, the leader of Zimbabwe’s ruling party Zanu PF, has been officially sworn in as the president of Zimbabwe for his second term.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the National Sports Stadium in Harare, where Chief Justice Luke Malaba administered the oath of office.

This marks the beginning of Mnangagwa’s new term after he emerged victorious in the 2023 General elections, securing 52.6 percent of the vote.

The event witnessed the presence of several prominent figures, including heads of state from neighboring countries.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, the Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi, and Mozambican President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi graced the occasion.

Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame was represented by the president of the Senate, Rt. Honourable Dr. Francois Xavier. Other countries were represented by their ambassadors, symbolizing the global significance of the inauguration.

The ceremony was attended by various high-profile individuals, adding to the significance of the occasion.

Former Vice President Dr. Joice Mujuru, influential religious leader Emmanuel Makandiwa, and former First Lady Grace Mugabe, along with her children Bona and Robert Mugabe Junior, were among the distinguished guests present.

Thousands of party supporters and members of the apostolic sect, including 4ED Zanu PF affiliates, were also transported to the event.

During his inaugural speech, President Mnangagwa expressed gratitude to the Zimbabwean people for their commitment to maintaining peace throughout the election season.

Mnangagwa also pledged to fulfill the promises made during his campaign, assuring the nation that his new government would deliver on its commitments.

In his address, the president called upon all Zimbabweans to reject violence, tribalism, regionalism, and hate speech.

He emphasized the importance of peace, harmony, and tolerance, stating that these values are ingrained in the DNA of the Zimbabwean people.
