Newly appointed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson, Promise Mkwananzi, denies reports by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) of an outstanding arrest warrant.
Mkwananzi claims he was cleared of all the charges that were leveled against him.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Mkwananzi wrote,
Please be informed that I don’t have a warrant of arrest. I was cleared of all the flimsy charges that had been preferred against me. All these are lies, laughable desperation to intimidate & restrict people’s freedoms.In another social media post, Mkwananzi thanked those who attended the party’s press conference in Milton Park, Harare today. He wrote,

This follows after unidentified men disrupted the CCC’s press conference that was held in Milton Park, Harare and they forcefully took Mkwananzi’s speech while he was on the podium.

Mkwananzi’s claims are in contrast to a report by the ZRP that the CCC spokesperson is being sought in connection warrant of arrest issued by a Harare Magistrate Court in 2020.“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that Promise Dalubuhle Mkwananzi is being sought in connection with a warrant of arrest issued by Harare Magistrate Court on 22nd April 2020 for defaulting court proceedings.
