Controversial social media influencer Tawona Shadaya has wailed that he has no nice clothes after being invited to present an award at the Zimbabwe Music Awards.

Shadaya revealed that he will be presenting an award for a category at the ceremony today, 3 June 2023, at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare.

The ZIMAs are an annual event that celebrates the achievements and contributions of Zimbabwean artists and professionals in the music industry. The theme for this year’s edition is “Re-Imaging the Industry” to reflect the resilience and innovation of the music sector amid the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The nominees for the 2023 ZIMAs were announced on 10 May, with Freeman HKD leading the pack with five nominations, including Best Album, Best Zimdancehall and Best Collaboration.

He is followed by Feli Nandi and Gemma Griffiths, who have four nominations each in categories such as Best Afropop/Afrofusion, Best Collaboration and Best Album. Other artists with multiple nominations are Saintfloew, Leo Magoz, Janet Manyowa, Fusion 5 Mangwiro, Mark Ngwazi and Dorcas Moyo.

Shadaya Reveals His Zimbabwe Music Awards Dilemma:

Self-proclaimed anti-feminist surprised Twitter users when he revealed that he is one of the award presenters at ZIMA.

He then revealed to his followers that he has no red carpet clothes and pleaded with people not to laugh at him. He tweeted:

“Don’t laugh at your boy tomorrow at the Zim Music Awards. I have to present an award for one of the categories, apa ini handina red carpet or events typa clothing, mozoti ko munhu angauye akarova jersey here.”
