The intricate details surrounding Mai TT’s fraud charge have been brought to light. The controversial comedienne appeared in court on Thursday facing two separate charges.

The court heard that Mai TT approached Rachel Mhuka for a loan totalling US$10 000 and left a Mercedes Benz as collateral.

Mai TT secured the US$10 000 loan under the pretext that the Mercedes Benz belonged to her and left the vehicle in Mhuka’s possession for collection upon payment of the full amount she borrowed plus interest.

The comedienne later came clean to Mhuka and revealed that the Mercedes Benz she had offered as collateral was not hers. In its place, Mai TT handed over an Audi.

Mai TT then went back and successfully renegotiated with Rachel Mhuka again for the return of the Audi. As a token of good faith handed over her passport. After a close inspection, Mhuka realised that the passport was invalid.

Upon realizing she had been taken for a ride by the outspoken comedienne, Mhuka confronted Mai TT who then returned the Audi as surety.

That was not the end of the drama as Mhuka got a visit from police officers stationed at Rhodesville Police Station. The police officers delivered the bad news that the Audi left by Mai TT as surety belonged to a Car Sale named Else Events Car Hire.

Based upon her actions, the State alleges that Mai TT sought to swindle Mhuka of her hard-earned cash which she had not returned when she made her first court appearance on Thursday.

In a separate case, Mai TT is facing theft of trust property charges in which Else Events Car Hire is the complainant.

The comedienne approached the car hire seeking to secure an Audi Q5 vehicle. She agreed that she would pay a weekly fee of US$770. After she failed to make the weekly fee payment, Else Events Car Hire ordered her to return the vehicle.

She did not comply with the demand and allegedly became evasive. A police report was made and the car was recovered in Mhuka’s possession who had received it from Mai TT as surety.

Mai TT was released unconditionally because had adhered to the court’s summons.
