Breaking News - Harare City Council Destroys Prophet T Freddy’s Church Headquarters

Harare City Council descended on Glen View high-density suburb on Wednesday and demolished popular cleric, Prophet T Freddys’ church, in its latest crackdown on illegal structures.

This comes as the city council, which obtained a court order earlier this year to destroy all illegal structures in the city, is taking advantage of low human traffic during the lockdown to demolish the supposed structures.

According to information reaching us, council workmen brought in earth moving machines and razed Goodness and Mercy Ministries (GMM) headquarters to the ground whilst scores of people, believers included, gathered and watched helplessly. This was despite the lockdown being in place.
Contacted for comment (GMM) founder Prophet T Freddy who also doubles as a musician, confirmed the development with a short and cryptic response, saying:

‘GMM church demolished by City council Everything happens together for the good.’

Earlier this week council workers also demolished vendors’ illegal cabins and stalls in Mbare and Highfield, taking advantage of the national lockdown which has seen most businesses coming to a halt.
Scores of traders expressed shock over the council’s decision and accused the municipality of backtracking on an agreement made earlier. Council is reported to have promised to provide new market areas for vendors but went on to destroy the structures before the market areas were developed.
