Senatorial 2018 - The Constitutional Council Rejects The Appeals Of SDF And SVP

These two political parties demanded the cancellation of the elections in the West and Southwest regions.

The Constitutional Council rejected the two appeals for annulment filed by the SDF and the UDC, claiming a partial cancellation of the senatorial elections of 25 March. The 11 members of the Constitutional Council have, in effect, ruled "inadmissible" the three complaints brought to their judgment. It was during a hearing held today at the Yaounde Convention Center.

It all started with the appeal filed by the SDF. It dealt with the conduct of the polls in certain departments of the South-West, where attacks by attackers on the day of the vote prevented a large number of municipal councilors from performing their duty as citizens. But for Clement Atangana and his accomplices , the applicant Njenje Valentin Kleber , does not have the qualities required to file this appeal.

A sentence different from that served to Youmo Koupit Adamou , applicant on behalf of the SVP, and claiming a cancellation of the vote of the West, due to many irregularities observed in particular in the Menoua. Here, the Constitutional Council has also declared this complaint admissible on the form but inadmissible on the merits for lack of evidence.
The post-electoral dispute thus emptied, all that is missing is the solemn proclamation of the final results. According to the provisions of the Electoral Code, this proclamation should take place no later than Monday 9 April 2018.
