The President of the National Olympic Committee of Cameroon Hamad Kalkaba Malboum has been disqualified from the Presidential race of the National Olympic Committee of Africa, currently holding in Djibouti. His candidature was rejected by the 'Ethics Committee' for 'alleged corruption' reasons.
Reporting on this, France based Investigative Journalist Boris Bertolt wrote that the Executive Committee said they were in possession of some documents which showed that the Cameroon Government had attempted to corrupt members of the Executive Committee to vote for Kalkaba.

Moreover, they say the Cameroon Government indirectly intervened with other African government leaders to facilitate Kalkaba's election, which according to the 'Ethic Committee' is a conflict of interest.
Boris reports that the ethic committee proposed that Cameroon's Kalkaba Malboum should also be suspended from all activities relating to the Olympic movement in Africa, until results of the investigations of the ethic committee are closed and published, but also says Cameroon can however send other representatives.
Sources close to Kalkaba consider this decision as unjust and discriminatory, and say they will present the situation to the upcoming General Assembly that will be sitting from Tuesday 9th to Friday 12th of May 2017 in Djibouti, and the final decision will only depend on the outcome of the deliberations at the General Assembly.
