This was attributed to the "less serious" nature of the charges under the Act. It is expected that if the case proceeds to court, all parties will appear from their respective homes.
Fired Maid's Claims and Dug-Up "Evidence" at the Center of the Case
The bizarre accusations reportedly originated with a domestic worker who was recently dismissed by Natalie Mhandu. The fired maid is alleged to have contacted two of Mhandu's former friends, claiming that the socialite had consulted a sangoma from Mozambique. The purpose of this visit, according to the maid, was to perform rituals intended to "fix" the two women, allegedly after one of them became involved with Mhandu's boyfriend. The situation escalated dramatically when the ex-maid reportedly led the two women to Pension Farm in Glen View. There, they allegedly unearthed items said to be part of the ritual: a red cloth and a knife, both purportedly inscribed with their names. These items have presumably been presented as evidence in the case.
As the drama unfolded, a phone call, believed to be between Natalie and one of the accusers, was leaked online. In the recording, a voice strongly believed to be Mhandu's can be heard vehemently denying all allegations. She claims that her former maid is fabricating the stories with the malicious intent of destroying her reputation.
