In a defiant social media post, Malloti has refuted claims that the charges were withdrawn, alleging instead that a withdrawal was offered on the condition that she first issue a public apology – a demand she says she has refused.

Court Appearance and Bail Conditions

Malloti appeared before Harare Magistrate Dennis Mangosi on Thursday and was subsequently released on US$100 bail. She is expected to return to court on a future date, which has not yet been announced. The case is set to proceed, despite earlier reports suggesting that Prophet Java had withdrawn his complaint. Court officials have clarified that any withdrawal must be formally processed through the court system to be legally recognized.

Malloti's Defiant Stance: "No Story Was Withdrawn"

Taking to her Facebook page on Saturday evening, August 16, 2025, Malloti addressed her followers directly to "clear the air." She firmly denied that the case against her had been dropped.

"Hakuna nyaya yaka withdrawewa, musanyeperwe," she wrote, translating to, "No story was withdrawn, don't be lied to." She then alleged that an offer was made to her: "Yuwi hanzi Apologise ndi withdrawe nyaya🤣🤣🤣" (They said I should apologize for them to withdraw the case).

She concluded her post with a defiant challenge: "musandijairire imi tosangana ku trial" (Don't get too familiar with me, we will meet at the trial). This statement signals her intention to contest the charges in court rather than accept the alleged apology-for-withdrawal deal.

The Allegations and Arrest Details

The State's case, as presented by prosecutors, alleges that in June of this year, Malloti used her social media platforms to post content that harassed or caused emotional distress to Prophet Passion Java. The matter was reported to the police, which led to her arrest earlier this week.

During her bail hearing, Malloti’s lawyer, Dumisani Mthombeni, highlighted concerning details about her detention. He informed the court that his client, who is heavily pregnant and due to give birth soon, spent two nights in custody at Machipisa Police Station. He claimed she was not immediately informed of the charges against her until the following morning and stressed the urgent need for medical monitoring due to her advanced pregnancy and related health complications.

The charge against Malloti falls under Zimbabwe’s Cyber and Data Protection Act, which criminalizes online harassment and cyberbullying. If convicted, the penalties can range from fines and community service to imprisonment, depending on the severity of the offense. The case continues to be a focal point of public interest, highlighting the legal consequences of online conduct in Zimbabwe.
