In a powerful message to his congregants, Prophet Makandiwa urged Zimbabweans to unite behind the newly introduced ZiG (Zimbabwe Gold) currency.

This call to action comes as the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe seeks economic stability through the introduction of a gold-backed currency. Launched on April 5th, 2024, the ZiG aims to curb inflation and revitalize the nation's financial landscape.

Beyond the Gold Standard: Belief as the Cornerstone of Success

Prophet Makandiwa's message transcended the mere economic benefits of the ZiG currency. He emphasized the critical role of faith and collective belief in its success. He encouraged a positive and optimistic mindset among Zimbabweans, urging them to view the ZiG as a catalyst for economic growth. 

With a touch of humor, he remarked, "Enter into the business world with the mindset that people have money. Otherwise, if you don't do that, it won't work. It's like saying ZiG harishande [meaning 'the ZiG doesn't work']."

The spiritual leader delved deeper, highlighting the significant influence of public perception on the value of a currency. He cautioned against negativity, stressing that a collective belief in the ZiG's potential is crucial for its success. "Do you know that once people say that it doesn't work it might not work not because it wasn't going to work but because they said it will not work," he remarked. "All that is needed is for people to believe and to trust and if people are to put their confidence even in something that doesn't work, it will work."

Prophet Makandiwa offered historical and practical examples to illustrate his point. He drew parallels between the ZiG and precious minerals, explaining that gold's value originated not from its inherent properties, but from people's collective agreement and usage. Similarly, he highlighted the strength of the US dollar, attributing it to the unwavering trust and belief of the American people. "So any piece of paper that is introduced, and if we agree and transfer value into it, it will work for the economy. It's up to us, the people. We agree that there is value in this thing, then value is transferred," he emphasized.

Prophet Makandiwa further bolstered his message with a biblical reference. He cited Matthew 23:16, where Jesus spoke of the gold in the temple. The Prophet explained that the gold's value stemmed not from the metal itself, but from its association with the temple.
