Sandra Mazvita Pamberi, the woman whose video alleging that Adela Contracting company was selling sewage water as household water to affluent suburbs went viral, has reportedly been arrested and held at Highlands Police Station.
Pamberi garnered attention with a video in which she confronted an Adela Contracting company truck allegedly pumping water, which she claimed to be sewage water, into a bowser for distribution. Her accusations gained traction as she expressed intent to bring the matter to the attention of the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) while warning the public against purchasing water from the company.
However, in response to these claims, Adela Contracting released an official statement clarifying that they are a reputable plant-hire company and do not engage in the distribution of water for profit to private individuals or corporations.
The company affirmed that the water being drained into the bowser from a pool was not sewage water.
Furthermore, Adela Contracting explained that they had been contracted by Runt Dutoit Property Developers to supply equipment for road construction, shedding light on the context in which the video was recorded. The company emphasized that the water captured in the video was sourced from a stream of fresh water in the area and was not sewage water as alleged by Pamberi.
The development of Pamberi's arrest in connection to the viral video serves as a reminder of the significance of verifying claims and the potential legal implications associated with incendiary allegations.
