Sengezo Tshabangu, the self-appointed interim secretary general of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), purportedly unveiled a new interim leadership structure for the party, announcing key figures to several positions, including an interim president to replace Nelson Chamisa.
Tshabangu revealed the appointments of Mbuso Siso as the national treasurer, Albert Mhlanga as the deputy national chairperson, Sikhululekile Moyo as the women’s assembly chairperson, and Nomvula Mguni as the national director for elections. Notably, he reportedly named Welshman Ncube as the interim president, supplanting Nelson Chamisa.
However, in a striking rebuttal, Welshman Ncube vehemently refuted the claims, asserting that he had not been appointed as the new CCC interim president by Sengezo Tshabangu. Expressing clear dismay, Ncube vehemently repudiated the circulating rumors, contending that he would never accept the role of the party’s acting president, even under the most extreme circumstances.

Addressing the situation, Ncube also took the opportunity to critique the media, questioning its willingness to publish stories without verifying their accuracy. He emphasized the need for improved journalism practices, expressing disappointment in the gullibility of the media and its failure to adhere to rigorous fact-checking standards.
It’s important to note that Ncube, a founding member of the MDC-T and a former vice president alongside Tendai Biti under the leadership of the late Morgan Tsvangirai, holds significant credibility within Zimbabwean politics.
This conflicting narrative underscores the need for robust journalistic practices and underscores the temerity and public accountability required of media outlets. As the situation continues to unfold, the accuracy and integrity of factual reporting stand as pivotal imperatives in informing the public and preserving the veracity of information disseminated across media platforms.
