In a devastating turn of events, it has been confirmed that musician Garry Mapanzure has tragically passed away. Family sources have revealed that he died around 3 am, following a critical road traffic accident.
The incident occurred on the Beitbridge-Masvingo Highway in Masvingo when a vehicle turning into Clipsham Views residential area collided with another vehicle coming from Beitbridge. Mapanzure, a passenger in the car driven by his sister, suffered critical injuries, while his nephew, his sister's son, lost his life instantly.

Garry Mapanzure rose to prominence with his 2017 single "Wapunza," featuring his brother Victor Mapanzure. He continued to captivate listeners with his 2018 single "Moyo Muti." His song "Truth or Dare" caught the attention of Mr Eazi's #EMPAWA100 program, leading to the release of the track "Slow." In July 2019, Garry released the single "Your Man" and later signed a deal with Runabeat Music in January 2020, an agency for reggae, dancehall, and afrobeats musicians.
Beyond his musical career, Garry ventured into the world of fashion and launched his clothing line, African Sushi Wear, in 2021. The line offers various products, including T-shirts, hoodies, and sweaters, available for purchase through his online store.
This tragic accident marks the third heart-wrenching incident to profoundly impact the people of Zimbabwe this week. Only yesterday, Ashley Musendekwa, a talented Upper Sixth pupil and deputy head boy of St. George's College, lost his life in a devastating car crash along Harare Drive in Mt Pleasant, Harare. The collision occurred when the vehicle he was driving collided head-on with a Koala Park Abattoir truck, resulting in his immediate demise.
