Noel Jones’ wife Loretta Jones was reportedly punched on Sunday at the conclusion of a morning service at the Gardena-based City of Refuge in Los Angeles.
Jones, who is the wife of well known Pentecostal Bishop Noel Jones – brother of singer Grace Jones – was allegedly punched in the face and knocked unconscious by a random woman in an apparent unprovoked attack.
According to local reports, as the woman was escorted out of the sanctuary by security, she was asked by a bystander why she did it. “Yeah, I did it because she gave my daughter cancer”, she reportedly said.
Loretta Jones was reportedly transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Her status remains unknown.
“It was crazy,” said an eyewitness. “There was a whole crowd of people near the altar and I believe Bishop had gone to change his clothes and I couldn’t make out what the woman was hollering and yelling as she hit the first lady. Some of the members appeared to be shocked and then you saw this surge of people and people shouting ‘no, no, no’ as security then grabbed the woman and took her into custody.”
A woman, claiming to be the alleged attacker, released a TikTok video explaining her motives. The video also circulated on Twitter.
A since deleted clip was initially uploaded on YouTube channel which sees the pastor getting down on one knee with a ring in his hands and proposing to Loretta who says yes.
