Enock Guni, a talented Zimbabwean urban grooves singer popularly known as Nox, found himself behind bars following an arrest for suspected credit card fraud by the Dublin Police in Ireland.

As a result of this unfortunate incident, his highly anticipated performance at the Button Factory on Friday had to be canceled.

As reported by The Irish Sun newspaper, the incident occurred during his stay at the Hard Rock Hotel in Temple Bar.

When the time came to settle his bill of €787 (US$861), which included room service charges, it was alleged that Nox made the payment using the credit card number belonging to an American woman.

“Instead of getting on stage, Nox was arrested for deception, interviewed and held in Garda (police) custody until he appeared before Judge John Hughes at a weekend sitting of Dublin District Court,” The Irish Sun newspaper reported.

During the legal proceedings, Judge Hughes took into consideration the mitigating factors presented by Nox’s defense. It was acknowledged that Nox eventually rectified the situation by compensating the Hard Rock Hotel for the financial loss they incurred as a result of the incident.

Additionally, as a gesture of goodwill, Nox contributed an additional €100 towards a charitable cause.

The judge also avoided convicting the singer saying this would impact his ability to tour. In return Nox “agreed to visit and teach the children at the St Andrews youth club in Pearse Street about his music,” the paper added.

The “Ndinonyara” hitmaker was released on bail and had his case adjourned until September.

The publication also reports that Nox “pleaded guilty to obtaining services by deception at the hotel using another person’s Mastercard number.”

In his defense, Nox’s lawyer, Alexander Rafter, provided an explanation stating that Nox was not responsible for booking the hotel room himself. Instead, it was revealed that an unnamed promoter had made the arrangements on his behalf.
