Popular YouTuber MrBeast revealed that he had declined an invitation to join a submersible mission to explore the Titanic debris, which allowed him to avoid a potentially dangerous trip.
On Sunday morning, MrBeast tweeted the information. He expressed his relief and acknowledged the unsettling thought that he might have been on board.
While MrBeast didn’t specify whether the invitation was for the ill-fated voyage that ended disastrously, he shared a snippet of text from someone inviting him to join the expedition as evidence of his claim. The message read,
“Also, I’m going to the Titanic in a submarine late this month,” the individual wrote. “The team would be stoked to have you along.”
The response to MrBeast’s tweet was varied. Some, including Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, expressed their relief that he had declined the invitation, while others questioned the authenticity of his claim. (The message in question appeared to be from MrBeast himself, as it was shown in blue.)

However, we may never receive confirmation as a representative for MrBeast did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Nevertheless, he isn’t the only person to make such a claim following the disaster.
British millionaire Chris Brown, a friend of the victim Hamish Harding, spoke to the U.K. tabloid The Sun, revealing that he was meant to board the ill-fated submersible but backed out upon discovering that the vessel was operated using “computer game-style controllers.”
Similarly, a Nigerian politician shared on Instagram that he had received an invitation from Harding but declined due to his national obligations. Furthermore, documentarian and former actor Ross Kemp disclosed that he had rejected an opportunity to board the vessel for a film production last year when his production company raised concerns about its safety standards.
