After becoming an overnight sensation on social media, Karoline Silver Mafra, a Brazilian citizen imprisoned at Chikurubi Female Prison, is appealing for assistance to purchase an air ticket and make her way back home.
Karoline Silver Mafra, along with Sibusiso Ndlovu and Patience Murinda, was apprehended on April 2, 2021, under suspicion of engaging in heroin trafficking.
While Murinda received a conviction on July 20 of the previous year and was given an effective five-year prison sentence, Ndlovu and Karoline were acquitted of all drug trafficking charges on the same day Murinda was sentenced.

However, the 23-year-old finds herself stranded at Chikurubi, lacking the financial means to return to Brazil. Karoline made the decision to stay at Chikurubi Female Prison because her documents were not in order at the time of her arrest, preventing her from freely moving about in Zimbabwe.Despite being declared innocent, Karoline remains unable to depart from Zimbabwe and remains trapped in prison without the resources to return home.

How She Was Arrested
Police received a tip that Karoline was arriving in Harare from Brazil, carrying a stash of illicit drugs, on April 2, 2021.Detectives from CID Homicide and CID Law and Order awaited her arrival at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport and subsequently arrested her.
Murinda and Ndlovu, who were awaiting Karoline’s arrival at the airport, were also taken into custody.
Reportedly, police discovered 242 grams of heroin in the bedrooms of Murinda and Ndlovu on April 8, 2021.
Karoline caught the attention of Zimbabwean social media users, particularly men, with her remarkable beauty when she appeared in a video alongside socialite Mai TT, who is also serving time, at a party held at Chikurubi Female Prison on Monday.
