Social media users are calling for churches to be banned as 47 bodies were exhumed after a Kenyan pastor convinced congregants to starve to death.
Kenyan police dug out the 47 bodies near the coastal town of Malindi. BBC reports that the shallow graves are in Shakahola forest, where 15 members of the Good News International Church were rescued last week.

So far, 58 graves have been identified, according to Kenyan state media KBC. Pathologists are expected to conduct autopsies to determine if the congregants were killed by starvation.A police source told AFP:
“Police have identified at least 58 suspected graves on the grounds of the Good News International Church, raising fears that the death toll will rise significantly. We have not even scratched the surface which gives a clear indication that we are likely to get more bodies by the end of this exercise.![]() |

Cult Leader Denies Wrongdoing:
Paul Mackenzie Nthenge, founder and leader of the Good News International Church, shockingly persuaded his congregants to starve themselves to death so they could meet Jesus.He has however denied any wrongdoing, insisting that he shut down his church in 2019. Kenyan authorities denied him bail.

The whole forest has been cordoned off as a crime scene.
Malindi Social Justice Centre’s Victor Kaudo told Citizen TV:
“When we are in this forest and come to an area where we see a big and tall cross, we know that means more than five people are buried there”.Social media users expressed agony over the mass cult deaths in Kenya.
