Nadia Nakai finally clears the air on what happened between her and Cassper. Nadia was on Kaya FM’s breakfast show this week.
Addressing reports that she had fallen out with Cassper Nyovest who was her label boss, Nadia said that it is not true as Cassper have her an opportunity to launch her career.
Nadia added that she did not date AKA. To spite Cassper. They had just happened to fall in love.
“For the longest time, I’ve never interacted with this person until when I was about to leave Family Tree.
“It just happened the way that it happened and I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like it’s something that God did. I feel like I don’t have to explain the Cassper element,” she told Kaya FM.
AKA has been vocal about his love for Nadia. He told Drum magazine about his undying love for Nadia.
“I am in a fantastic place. Love is in the air. Nadia and I have been together for about a year and just enjoying each other. "
“Music always unites us. Both of us being both artists complement our relationship.”
“I plan to take on festivals and concerts and just keep people entertained this festive season.
“Lemons is arguably one of the most popular songs. Things are going well, it’s gaining momentum and I’m excited.”
A few months ago, Nadia and AKA were marred with allegations of abuse during an international trip. It was alleged that AKA assaulted Nadia.

“He allegedly assaulted her at the venue in full view of people. When he arrived at the hotel, he went into a room where she was chilling with other people and allegedly attacked the promoter who had booked them. He allegedly punched him several times and then went back to Nadia. He had to be restrained and once calm, he broke down and cried," said a source to the publication.
Despite Nadia denying this, the publication continued with the story and it resulted in the couple seeking legal action.
“It never happened. I was not assaulted in any way. We just got into an argument and that is all,” she said.
Nadia and AKA then shared a statement on social media further refuting these claims.
“What we took to be light interactions with industry peers have been twisted by outsiders. There was no physical or verbal altercation. We are fine and there’s no drama between us.”
"Just to clear the air there was no physical abuse nor verbal altercation between us. we are fine and there's no drama between us, we are basking our individual successes from the amazing trip."
In the legal papers, the couple revealed plans to sue the publication,"It is our further instruction to proceed with civil claims for damages in the amount of R800 000.000 against yourselves."

Nadia Nakai Kandava (née Dlamini; born 18 May 1990), is a South African-born Zimbabwean rapper, singer, songwriter, actress, and television personality.
Nakai was inspired by a female Kenyan rapper, Nazizi, who she met while she was staying in Kenya. She said that Nazizi influenced her in starting her rapping career.
Early Life and Career:
Nakai was born in South Africa. Her father is South African and her mother is Zimbabwean. When she was 16 years old, her surname was changed from her father’s to her mother’s.Nakai attended Fourways High School in Johannesburg for a year then finished her schooling in Kenya. She later studied a degree in marketing, communication, and media studies at Monash University, Johannesburg.
Career:
Nakai made her first television appearance on the e.tv hip hop show Shiz Niz where she won the Mixtape 101 competition, making her the first female to win the competition. She then rose to prominence in September 2013, when she released her debut single “Like Me”. The following year, she was featured on the remix of Riky Rick song, Amantombazane amongst various acts. As for June 2015, Nakai released her third single “Saka Wena” featuring rapper Ice Prince, following her second single, “Whatever” featuring DotCom and Psyfo.In August 2016, Nakai pre-released her single “The Man” featuring Cassper Nyovest from her EP, Bragga. Bragga was then released on 15 September 2016. In November 2017, Nakai released her critically acclaimed single “Naaa Meaan” featuring Cassper Nyovest. The song topped charts in several radio stations in South Africa. On 4 November 2016, she hosted the red carpet special for MTV Africa at the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards.
In 2019, Nakai co-hosted the MTV Base hip hop show, Yo! MTV Raps South Africa alongside television presenter Siyabonga Ngwekazi. On 3 May 2019, Nakai confirmed that her debut album Nadia Naked would be released on 28 June 2019. On 18 May 2019, “Imma Boss” was released as the third single accompanied by the album’s artwork cover. On 15 October 2020, she released a documentary on Showmax about the making of the album Nadia Naked. In May 2020, she signed a record deal with Def Jam Africa.
At the 6th ceremony of AFRIMA, she took-home Best Female Artist award. She was awarded the most stylish performing artist at the 2020 SA Style Awards.
In 2021, Nakai hosted the first season of Channel O’s Gen-Z South Africa television show. In June 2021, she left Family Tree Records to pursue her own label. At the 2021 South African Hip Hop Awards, Nakai received a nomination for Artist of the Decade.
In 2022, Nakai appeared on the Netflix original reality show Young, Famous & African.
