Metro FM Presenter Pearl Shongwe Passes Away in Her Sleep, Family Confirms

Popular Television and Radio presenter Pearl Shongwe has passed on at age 35.

The prolific newsreader who was currently on the Touchdown with Tbo Touch show on Metro FM was discovered dead in her home in Polo fields north of Joburg this afternoon, 8 November 2022.

An impeccable source disclosed to this reporter, that the presenter was discovered by neighbours who then alerted the police.

“The police are on the scene trying to establish the cause of her death,” said the mole.

Another source confirmed the demise of the popular presenter, saying the former SABC news reader was found lying dead alone in her home.

“At the moment all I can say is that no injuries were found. It appears that she might have died of natural causes. She was found lying on her bed face down,” said the tipster.

Reached for comment, Gauteng Police Spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza could neither confirm nor deny, asking the reporter to send questions in writing, which they had not responded to at the time of writing.

Brief Background and Biography:

Pearl was born in Soweto and was a Miss Soweto 2011 finalist. She kickstarted her career in 2010 by working for the youth radio station YFM as an entertainment reporter. Shongwe was also a reporter for SABC Sport as well as a voice artist for their flagship programmes such as Sports Buzz’.

Pearl also hosted Sports Live on the SABC 24hr News channel.
