Multi-award-winning musician Makhadzi has finally decided to shut down song theft allegations that have been levelled against her.
Makhadzi was recently accused of ‘stealing’ and remixing a Malawian song called Milandu Mbwee, which is a product of Mkulu Keyi and features the legendary Nepman and Kay Nine. Taking to Facebook, Makhadzi set the record straight as she revealed that the song was originally released in 1994 by Papa Penny.
She went down memory lane and revealed that she came to love the song Milandu because her father used to play it a lot.

Papa Penny released the song Milandu Bhe back in 1994 before l was born. My father had his CDs and played his songs a lot and Milandu Bhe became my all time favorite song. When I heard the beat, first words that came to me were Milandu bhe and l called him for a remake of the song the Makhadzi way and he approved..l respect the legends who opened up ways for us new artists,” Makhadzi wrote.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time Makhadzi has been accused of stealing a song from Malawi.
Early, this year in June, another Malawian musician Scrafoc threatened to sue her for stealing the song Ma gear.
However, after similarities between the songs were noted, South Africans rushed to defend Makhadzi, saying that she had not stolen the song from Scrafoc.
They argued that the Limpopo musician had simply taken a popular South African chant and made it into a song.
On the other hand, South Africans accused Scrafoc of seeking to ride on Makhadzi’s fame to promote his own song. Some also incredibly accused the Malawi artist of being the one who stole Makhadzi’s song.
