DJ Sumbody, whose real name is Oupa Sefoka, has reportedly passed on. Mzansi has woken up this morning to the news of his demise and tributes are pouring into the Monate Mpolaye hitmaker.
According to speculation circulating on social media, the musician was shot and killed while heading to play at Newscafe Woodmead last night. His management has allegedly confirmed his passing in a statement that is circulating on social media.
The statement did not reveal his cause of death, but states that he "ran into an unfortunate accident that led to his passing in the early hours of Sunday morning 20 November 2022."
According to the statement, an investigation is currently underway following his untimely passing. The Sefoka family and Sumsounds Music Management request privacy during this difficult time.
The musician's passing comes as Mzansi is still mourning the passing of Metro FM and Daily Thetha anchor Pearl Shongwe. The TV host was found dead in her Polo Fields home last week.

Metro FM presenter and DJ Mo Flava also paid tribute Shongwe and shared how she impacted his life.
“She's done so much for me in my career ... As much as she was a star ... she was a star because she was talented. But she was also a star because she was able to bring a shine to your life. She helped me become better at what I do.
Whether she was my manager at some point as a DJ, a co-host on a radio show, or a news. She helped me shine. She had an incredible impact on my life,” he said.

Well-known Mzansi disc spinner DJ Sumbody has been shot and killed in Joburg this morning. DJ Sumbody, real name Oupa Sefoka was traveling on Woodmead road when unknown gunmen sprayed his vehicle with a hail of bullets killing him and one of his bodyguards instantly.

He was the brain behind the show Mashaedi on the Engage which was broadcast on Tshwane. In 2018, the celebrated Deejay dropped the song titled Monate Mpolaye and grew famous and gained prominence at a national level.
He has also dropped several albums that gained positive feedback and contributed to his music success. Some of his albums include Larger Than House (Vol. 1 & 2) and Ashi Nthwela.
