One of the clients sent a message to Alistar Nyamarai Chibanda saying they realised that there were two people from their family who were paying subscriptions for one person.

They then approached Nyaradzo Group intending to be refunded or upgrade the coffin or use the money as future payments on another person’s policy but Nyaradzo refused to entertain them. In a statement seen by Pindula News, the client said:

Hie I had 2 issues with Nyaradzo. the first one is that I had put my grandma on a policy. When she passed on, I realized that my father had also been paying for my grandma. So we negotiated with Nyaradzo to upgrade the coffin since there were 2 policies for 1 person, but they refused

We negotiated for them to pay back cash for unclaimed benefits, but they refused, we tried that they use the money as a contribution for future payments on my father’s policy, still refused. Was only paid grocery-worthy US$19. If u want to win against Nyaradzo pay for older people only…

Responding to the statement, Peter Mutasa, a Zimbabwean trade unionist and the former president of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) said, “It’s fraud.”

Chibanda previously posted on social media saying the service provider was robbing people by refusing to assist clients whose policies would have lapsed a few months before their deaths even if they were religiously paying for thirty or so years.

Another client said:

However, when things got bad I resigned to seek for greener pastures during that period could not pay my policy for around 5months then my wife’s mother passed on and she was on our policy

I went to Nyaradzo kunofambisa mapaper only to be told that the US$68 I had been paying up for 15yrs had lapsed. It only took me 20 minutes to cross to Ximex Mall & sell my iPhone XS Max for US$800 since it was the latest then. We managed to buy a coffin with a casket shape in Mbare, food plus transport ndikatosarwa something. From that day I told myself burying someone is easy but painful. If I die vanosara vanoita plan I’m now more concerned about medical aid. Thank u so much for being our voice faka pressure ...
