The Queen died after a battle with ill-health. “Because in that same royal vault… is the Duke of Edinburgh’s coffin, and they will both be interred together in this private ceremony, which won’t be televised, which will only be for immediate family,” she continued.
So, Nicholl said that Her Majesty ultimately died of a broken heart as she was “never the same” after Prince Philip died.
HER MAJESTY WISHED TO BE LAID TO REST WITH HER LATE HUSBAND: Her Majesty and Prince Philip got married in 1947. The pair were married for almost 74 years when Prince Philip passed away in April 2021. The late monarch was buried at Windsor Castle’s King George VI Memorial Chapel. This is where her parents King George VI, who died in 1952, and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, who died in 2002 have been laid to rest. As well as the ashes of her sister Princess Magaret. Prince Philip’s body was moved to join her.
Nicholl said that it was the Her Majesty’s wish to be buried with her late husband. She reportedly knew she would join him soon and wanted her final journey made with him by her side.
“The Queen had wished for her late husband to wait in the royal vault so that she and Philip could be interred together, alongside her father King George and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother,” explained Nicholl.
