Chitungwiza Town Council has given informal businesses a 72-hour ultimatum to remove their wares from roadsides.

The local authority ordered those involved in activities such as brick-moulding, brick-selling, car wash, car parks, car sales, furniture making and vending to remove their belongings by the 4th of this month or risk losing their goods.

A statement by Chitungwiza Acting Town Clerk Evangelista Machona reads:

Chitungwiza Municipality would like to inform all people conducting informal businesses like brick-moulding, brick-selling, car wash, car parks, car sales, furniture making, vending and any other activities along Council and State roads servitude to cease operations forthwith.

Chitungwiza Municipality To Launch Blitz On Roadside Businesses

We are giving those conducting businesses illegally on roads servitude up to 72 hours to remove all their belongings. Failure to take heed of this statement, Council will not hesitate to enforce measures.

This statement is being issued in accordance with Section 24 of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act.

Council and State roads in Chitungwiza are Mharapara, Tilcor, Hadzinanhanga, Chitungwiza, Mutsau, and Chaminuka Drive.

Please be further informed that Council shall be embarking on a joint operation with the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Department of State Roads in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development this Friday (4th of June 2021).

Please take this warning seriously to prevent loss of life and damage to property. Council shall not be liable for losses or costs in the event of damages to your property arising from the impending OPERATION.
