Kamaru Usman could head straight into a rematch with Colby Covington after his devastating knockout win over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 261.
Usman made a fourth successful defence of his welterweight strap with a thrilling second-round finish in Jacksonville, Florida.
It was his second victory over Masvidal, who stepped into challenge the ’The Nigerian Nightmare’ on six days’ notice at UFC 251, losing on the scorecards after five gruelling rounds.
A vicious right hand however ended his latest challenge with Usman extending his record to 19-1 which now includes 14 straight wins in the UFC.
Among his four titles defences was Covington, with the American falling short in their vicious UFC 245 meeting in December 2019, suffering a broken jaw in the process.

Covington remains the no1 ranked fighter in the welterweight division with UFC president Dana White confirming in the post-fight press conference Usman now faces another rematch.
‘The fight between him and Colby Covington is one of the greatest fights I’ve ever seen.
