The 38-year-old actress died on Wednesday after she succumbed to the injuries she sustained during the brutal attack by the robbers in Bedfordview, Johannesburg.

These details about the actress’ death were revealed by her brother Juan Nhira, who is also based in South Africa. In a statement, Juan said that the talented actress “…sustained injuries on her chest area, rib cage and back during a robbery on Monday afternoon.”

Adding more details to his initial statement, Juan revealed that Anne had been attacked by armed robbers after she had gone to a prayer mountain. Relaying his sister’s last words, Juan told the Chronicle,

“The only few words I heard from my sister were that men with guns came out of the bushes at the prayer mountain. When I found her (at the scene), I didn’t want her to talk too much as I wanted to get help,”

Juan added that although his sister had been attacked by armed men, he did not see any bullet wounds on her body. He also revealed that they have been unable to find any witnesses to the brutal attack and that they are now hoping to find surveillance videos from the area, to establish what happened.

“There were no bullet wounds that I saw, but there was physical damage on the chest area, stomach, rib cage and her back. We’re actually trying to get the surveillance of that area and see if we can come up with anything.

“There’re no witnesses so far and what we know is what she told us,”

Juan also said that for now, the family has made no plans yet for the burial of Anne, as they are waiting for pathology reports from the medical examiner.

“We signed all the forms that were required so we’re now just waiting for the pathologists to give us the results. It’s only then that we’ll have a solid plan. They’re saying it’ll take a bit of time,”

Nhira shot to fame following her breakthrough role as Vimbayi Jari on the yesteryear hit soap opera, Studio 263. She later relocated to South Africa in 2008 where she had a cameo role in the soapie Zabalaza playing the part of an illegal Malawian immigrant working as a hairdresser. She later featured in the 2016 film Mutual Friends.

Nhira also provoked her countrymen’s ire in 2017, when she spearheaded efforts to have Zodwa WaBantu banned from performing at the Harare International Carnival.
