In another tragic turn of events, four people perished in a head on collision between a BMW X5 and a Mercedes Benz C200 about 2km from Kariba Airport this afternoon.
The Mercedes Benz caught fire and burnt the three occupants who were trapped inside the vehicle.
The driver of the BMW X5 who was reportedly headed for Harare died on the spot.
The Kariba Municipality fire brigade managed to arrive at the scene to put out the fire and try to retrieve the bodies.
The late BMW X5 driver was headed for Harare at the time of the unfortunate accident while the Mercedes Benz occupants were headed in the opposite direction.
The other occupants in the BMW X5 were seriously injured and taken to Kariba District Hospital.
The Mercedes Benz was destroyed to rubble while its engine detached and was tossed about 10m away from the vehicle.
This is the second accident of such a nature to happen in Zimbabwe, all within a space of 1 week.
Last week, flamboyant businessman Genius Kadungure aka Ginimbi met his demise in a horrific accident that happened along Borrowdale Road in Harare.
Ginimbi’s Rolls Royce was involved in a head-on collision with a Honda Fit car before veering off the road and rammed into a tree.
Ginimbi was pulled out of the car by the first responders, he was only conscious for less than 5 minutes before he succumbed to his injuries.
The three occupants who were in the car with him met a worse fate.
Their seat belts jammed and before they could be rescued, the car exploded and they all perished and were burnt beyond recognition.
