Nomzamo Mbatha’s Foundation Raises Over R1.5 Million Rands To Fight Coronavirus

Nomzamo Mbatha has opened her heart to Africa and her foundation has raised R1.5 million which will be donated to help efforts to fight the virus on the continent.


She is known for her philanthropic work and has stepped up to help. Nomzano said that her foundation, The Lighthouse, will donate the money for help ease the effect of COVID-19. 

She moved to Los Angeles in the United States to pursue her dreams, Nomzamo Mbatha is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHRC, the United Refugee Agency.

In the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic, her foundation has raised 1.5 Million Rands that will be used to mobilise an immediate response to organisations on the ground on the African continent.

Nomzamo Mbatha is one of the South Africans who could not come home due to Covid-19. In just one week she raised over one million rands with the help of companies such as Johnson n Johnson.

The money will be used to sponsor organisations and foundations in all the nine provinces to help fight the pandemic especially in poor communities who’s lives have been drastically changed by the lockdown.

Nomzamo Mbatha said some of the money will be donated to the Solidarity Fund, ‘Thuma mina’ and the Nelson Mandela Foundation aswell. In addition to that, she said they also provided care packages for new moms at different clinics.

Nomzamo will be among artists for the Global Citizen Home Special that is being held to support frontline health workers and the fight against coronavirus. She urged Africans to stand up and fight the pandemic.
