The Prince of Wales, Charles has tested positive for coronavirus. Clarence House confirmed that the 71-year-old member of the royal family has been diagnosed with the COVID-19 disease in a statement released this morning.

Prince Charles is said to have started displaying mild symptoms” on Sunday and was then tested on Monday.

The results came through on Tuesday evening and he tested positive.

Prince Charles is said to be in good health and has been self-isolating in Scotland together with his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall who tested negative for the virus.

The statement read

The Prince of Wales has tested positive for coronavirus,” the statement said.

“He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual.

“The Duchess of Cornwall has also been tested but does not have the virus. In accordance with government and medical advice, the Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland.

“The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire where they met the criteria required for testing.

“It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”

Prince Charles last held a public event on the 12th of March where he held a dinner reception in aid of the Australian bushfire relief effort which took place at Mansion House in London.

Earlier that day Prince Charles also attended an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace, where he greeted recipients with a non-contact gesture in fear of spreading the coronavirus

On 10 March, he hosted a WaterAid summit at Clarence House to discuss the impact of climate change on access to drinking water.

With the virus claiming several lives, British citizens are now on the edge of their seats with the latest development in the royal family.
