Hot on her homecoming tour, Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi is spending some time in the Eastern Cape and her hometown of Tsolo.
Today, Zozibini went to visit her former primary school Canaan Academy in Tsolo, and some of her former classmates dropped by to say, ‘hi’ and she looked so shocked to see them. I mean, my primary school mates probably wouldn’t even recognise me, but then again, I also didn’t win Miss Universe.

Yesterday, Zozi watched the unveiling of her mural of her by three young Eastern Cape artists. The mural was painted on a library wall in Tsolo by Hlazo Lwando, Azolo Ntlantsana, and Aphethuxolo Sibariboyi. The artwork has a picture of Zozi in traditional attire with her line, ‘take up space in society.’
About the mural, Zozibini said, ‘They got me. That painting is beautiful and I love that they put me in traditional garb – a brightly coloured Xhosa bead necklace and a beaded headscarf. It’s relatable to everyone who lives here and I can carry this image with me wherever I am in the world.’
Zozi and her family also made an appearance at Mthatha Stadium yesterday, where she wore a beautiful print dress from ImprintZA.
