Guests who attended the wedding of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son have dismissed an article circulating on social media that the First Lady Auxilia clashed with MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe.
The viral article claimed the First lady was mad at Khupe for attending the wedding and went on to slap the latter.
However, the allegations were dismissed as false as Khupe did not attend the wedding. Speaking to Zimlive, Norton Legislator Themba Mliswa confirmed that Khupe was not there.
“She never came to the wedding. There were only a few people there. The reception probably 200 people only, family and friends. She doesn’t fit into that category at all,” said Mliswa.
He Added:
“The friends are well-known, these are long-time friends of the families of the bride and the groom. Not even Zanu PF people were there, the only Zanu PF there was the chairperson Oppah Muchinguri, Chris and Monica Mutsvangwa are family friends for a long time, July Moyo is a family friend for a long time.
It was Emmerson Tanaka and his wife’s wedding, young people, let’s be fair on this.”
Presidential spokesman George Charamba also shot down the story via his Twitter ghost account @jamwanda2. “Yours truly was at the Mnangagwa wedding from start to end. When you hear a yarn about an alleged scuffle between the First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa and Madame Thokozani Khupe who did not attend the wedding, you are left both dumbfounded and bemused by the runaway fiction!”
Mliswa was responding to the message below which has gone viral on social media:
Unhinged Auxillia Wrestles Hubby-Snatching Khuphe: First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa proved she is even more deranged than her predecessor after she got involved in a fistfight with Thokozani Khuphe at Borrowdale Country Manor over the weekend.
Mrs Mnangagwa (56) was not happy that Dr Khuphe (55) was invited to her son’s wedding. Shocked guests watched as the feisty first lady accosted Khuphe and demanded that she leaves the venue.
“Wajaira kudanana nevarume vevanhu Thoko. Wainyengwa naTsvangirai uchinyepera kusekerera mukadzi wake,” Auxillia reportedly shouted.
Khuphe was embarrassed by the incident and remained in her seat but Auxillia slapped her across the face. She got up and showed the first lady her boxing skills until security intervened. Khuphe was escorted from the venue shouting, “Wena Auxillia unomona!”
She was reportedly in the company of a gentleman friend.
President Mnangagwa invited Khuphe without consulting his wife who suspects that Khuphe and the President are more than just political allies. Their son Emmerson Tanaka Mnangagwa married Farirayi Chieza. Sources at the event said it was a lavish affair and the festivities continued peacefully after Khuphe left.

The wedding was announced by a family relative and Norton MP Temba Mliswa who attended the event.
