Thousands of Cameroonians have gathered in the Douala, Cameroon’s economic capital to welcome the country’s chief opposition leader, Maurice Kamto after a brief stay in Ethiopia.

Maurice Kamto’s Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon (MRC) lost the recent October 7 election which he claims were massively rigged by the incumbent President Paul Biya. His party, however, took the highest votes in the economic capital of Douala.
Kamto’s popularity has markedly increase in Cameroon and abroad since he declared his intention to protect the votes of his supporters after the October election. He has vowed to continue the fight against vote rigging and poor governance in Cameroon but has faced stiff resistance from security personnel in the country.
