Zimbabweans Celebrate As New Finance Minister In Deep Trouble With President ED

Finance minister, Mthuli Ncube’s controversial announcement of two cents per dollar tax which caused palpable anger among long suffering Zimbabweans has landed him in hot soup with the president.

Daily news reports have revealed that the measures had not been approved by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Ncube also fired the Zimbabwe Revenue Board (ZIMRA) without immediately making replacements.

“The president was taken by surprise when he read Ncube’s two cents per dollar and his sacking of ZIMRA board. While Ncube is well meaning and really eager to get things moving, he might have set up ED and Zanu Pf on a collision course with both business and ordinary people.” said a highly placed source

“The two cents per dollar tax, for example, is viewed in government and the party as a kick in the teeth to the cooperate world”

The Finance Minister did not deny nor confirm that he had not consulted Mnangagwa on the two controversial issues which caused an uproar in Zanu Pf and among ordinary citizens.
“I am making a presentation on the economic transitional programme tomorrow. I will respond to all those questions tomorrow, I don’t want to pre-empt my statement,” said Ncube

Efforts to get comment from the President’s spokesperson, George Charamba were fruitless as he could not speak on the matter.
