Cameroonians are waiting the “proclamation” of the Sunday 07 presidential polls, but even before the Constitutional Court proclaims the results, the credibility of the election has already been dented by the misrepresentation of independent observers by CPDM and state-owned broadcaster CRTV as Observers from Transparency International.
Immediately after the elections, CRTV broadcasted a team of six observers, all white, whom according to the channel were observers from the international anti-corruption and anti-graft agency Transparency International (TI). The officials gave a positive and juicy summary of the elections, declaring it free and fair. But few hours later, TI officials issued a statement denying any link with the observers.
So who are these “fake” TI observers? One of the six observers is Nurit Greenger. Information from her Linkedin page says she was ‘Born in Israel, a Jewess, spent time living in South Africa and now living in the USA’. Nurit is a 71-year-old freelance journalist and blogger, who writes for Times of Isreal, Jerusalem Posts, and NewsBlaze News.
Information from her twitter handle and Facebook page shows that she is an ardent Zionists, and far right. In one tweet, she says ‘only a fool would like to live in a Marxist-Communist-quasi socialist country – Capitalism IS: free exchange of goods and services through privately-owned businesses’.
In other tweet she mentions are staunch support for the state of Israel ‘Making it Obvious: Israel is The, Nation State of the Jewish People’.
According to information from her Facebook page, she was hired by the Agence Cameroun Presse (ACP). She describes ACP as “an organization that fights corruption and media bias” and also said, she was invited by ‘Transparency International to be an observer and capture election irregularities during the presidential election that took place on Sunday, October 7, 2018’.
She adds that ‘Transparency International trained us, a group of 6. In the photos attached there is TI trainer who spent two hours with us giving us all the means to report irregularities if and when we see any. The training included all the information how to feed TI with the election process which we witnessed so they are informed well’.

A video seen by National Times indicates that the President of Transparency International Cameroon, Mr Charles Nguini misled Nurit Greenger. Mr Nguini seems to have told Nurit that she was hired and working for TI. In a video shared by National Times, the President of Transparency International Cameroon has confirmed that he hired Nurit as an observer in the election.
Nurit has responded to the backlash by telling Cameroonians that have wrongly accused her of what she didn’t do. ‘To everyone in Cameroon. I came to help you and you mistreated me, threatened me and accused me for what I have not done, therefore, I will not accept any of you as my FB friend. You do not deserve to be a friend of a nice person like me. Stop asking for friendship! I am not accepting it from Cameroonians’.
Nurit seems to have underestimated the seriousness of her actions. She was part of a team put together to mislead a country.
