US Diplomat Peter Henry Balerin praises a peaceful post-election period.
“We are asking all parties to wait for the official results to be announced before making statements about the alleged winner, and to peacefully resolve any complaint through established legal channels,” reads the Facebook page of the American Embassy.
The Chancery’s statement clarifies its “neutrality” with regard to current events, even if it implicitly corroborates the position of the Cameroonian government against Maurice Kamto. The results are expected by 22 October.
