Cameroon Shocked As Constitutional Council Rejects All Of Maurice Kamto’s Petitions

National Times -The Constitutional Council has rejected all the petitions filed by the Chairman and Presidential flag bearer of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) Maurice Kamto.


Kamto and his battery of lawyers were praying the Constitutional Council to cancel the October 7 election in some Regions of Cameroon, which they said were marred by fraud and irregularities.

The nine points petitions which was defended for over 11 hours has been rejected claiming the petitions are unfounded.

The team of lawyers to defending the CRM flagbearer mounted the stage yesterday, Wednesday October 17, 2018, and presented evidence and justification for the partial cancellation of the results.

The ruling was adjourned for today, Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 6:00PM.

The President of the Constitutional Council, Clément Atangana read through the nine-points petition rejecting all for the bases of lack of facts and incoherence with the law.

The lawyers defending Maurice Kamto felt demoralised when the President of the Constitution Council was rejecting the points.

It should be noted that 17 of the post’-electoral litigations have been rejected since the hearing began on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.
After rejecting the petitions of Maurice Kamto, the Constitutional Council proceeded with the hearing of the submissions of lawyers of the Social Democratic party, SDF, on the cancelation of the entire October 7 Presidential election.
