Opposition Presidential candidates, who ignored popular demand for an opposition coalition are now urging the population to rise and defend their vote against fraud as President Biya inches towards another mandate.
Observers have interpreted such calls as being void of objective political rational. Those who subscribe to such reasoning say the politicians have no moral right to instigate the population to the streets in the name of defending fraud when they failed to listen to calls for a united opposition front against Biya.
Prior to the election, only a Kamto-Akere coalition played out. Anxiety had heightened across the board that rising political leaders such as Cabral Libii of the Universe party and Serge Espoire Matomba of the United People for Social Revolution, PURS would join the fray.

Cabral Libii is the latest of such candidates, who has uttered the determination of the population to defend their votes against any form of fraud.
Matomba on his part in a his post-election conference asserted that he will call on the population to defend their votes till the end if fraud is detected despite calling for calm.
Social Democratic Front, SDF’s Joshua Osih Nambangi, who seemed to be receiving public bashing over the party’s inability to join forces with the Kamto coalition has also called for the population to wait for the Constitutional Council to proclaim results but remains firm to rise against fraud if detected.
Tomorrow, the Constitutional Council is expected to pass a ruling on petition from Cabral, Osih and MRC’s Maurice Kamto, calling for a cancelation of the poll. Cameroonians believe that the nation would have rather been preparing to enter a new era had all the opposition candidate put the nation first and form a coalition to defeat Biya.
With Biya likely to be announced winner of the polls, pundits hold that any call from the opposition candidates for street protests of the results will be putting lives in danger.
They say the opposition had a chance to unite, but they let their ego get the better part of their reasoning.
Pundits aver that these same candidates cannot use the same people as a shield to face the ‘enemy’ after failing to achieve their ego of becoming Head of State.
