The tension in the AFM church reached a boiling point on Saturday in a coup which saw Reverend Aspher Madziyire toppled from the leadership by Reverend Cosum Chiangwa, splitting the church as a result.
Chiangwa, together with the national workers council passed a vote of no confidence against Madziyire and his administration. Madziyire was accused of tinkering with the constitution to defer the elections and extend his executive stay in power.
