A kombi driver who crashed into Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s motorcade may be in serious trouble as prosecutors consider altering the charges he is facing.
The driver, Silent Hungwe, 30, was remanded in custody to September 4 when he appeared before a Harare magistrate at the weekend.
He was charged with negligent driving as well as driving without a licence over the incident occurred which occurred at August 24 at corner Borrowdale Road and Kingsmead.
However, sources told NewZimbabwe.com that Hungwe rammed into the vehicle in which the vice president was travelling.

“He crashed right into the car carrying the vice president on the very side he was sitting and so the charge may be altered,” NewZimbabwe.com heard.
Hungwe was denied bail when he returned to court this Monday by Harare magistrate, Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.
He was not asked to plead and remanded in custody 4 pending trial.
According to the State, the incident occurred on August 24, at corner Borrowdale Road and Kingsmead.
Hungwe was driving commuter omnibus and tried to avoid a vehicle that had blocked the road to make way for Chiwenga’s motorcade.
In trying to do so Hungwe’s vehicle accidentally hit one of the cars which was part of the convoy on the rear right side.
Upon his arrest it was established that he was also driving without a valid licence.
