Updated News - Clinton Njie Punched, Humiliated By Military Officer In Buea
Njie had already gotten into the car when he saw a soldier shouting after his friend Fokobo who was making his way through Clinton’s car.

According to an eyewitness, the soldier asked Clinton’s friend to hide behind his truck after harassing him. The soldier accused Fabrice Fokobo of being stubborn by claiming that other people were moving to Las Vegas, why was he making his way instead?

When Fokobo tried to explain to the military officer that he was only trying to go home because he was not allowed to be out at night in Buea, the soldier told him to stand behind them. truck.

In explaining to the soldier why he would not respect his order, because he did not commit a crime, Njie got out of his car to ask the soldier what was happening. Instead of the officer to explain the situation, he would have started shouting at Njie. Telling him to get in his car and leave and that the situation does not concern him.

Njie told the soldier that he would not leave his friend behind and insisted that the soldier, at least, explain to him what his friend was accused of. The soldier reportedly told Njie to “get out of here”.

“Do you know who I am, is that how the army throws people into jail for a fair ride?” Clinton asked the soldier. “Who do you think you are and who are you to interfere in my work?” The soldier answered in French before punching Njie’s jaw.

Our eyewitness told us, Clinton delivered his punch and it was then that the rest of the military officers rushed to the scene threatening Njie and his friends as spectators watched in shock.

The embarrassment lasted a few minutes before the Commissioner of the Molyko Police Station came forward. It was he who recognized Clinton Njie and managed to calm the situation. But the star of the Indomitable Lions insisted that he wanted to report the matter to a higher authority – the governor!

That’s when the soldiers began to apologize. But it was too late! Njie said the only reason they apologized is that they now recognize him as a football star. And if he were only an average Cameroonian, would he throw him behind bars for no good reason? He added that he had heard that soldiers were harassing innocent citizens in Buea, but he is shocked that this is happening in his hometown.
The case was later taken to the central police station in Buea where Clinton was asked to drop the case after several calls from friends and other prominent people in the city. ”

Clinton Njie is only the latest victim of repeated acts of police brutality in the Southwest region. Many celebrities have been calling for a #stoptopolice abruptness since the beginning of the year, especially after hundreds of civilians lost their lives on 1 October after a military attack in the English-speaking part of Cameroon.

We had previously reported that nearly 50 civilians were reportedly murdered in an alleged military raid in Santa, North West, last month.

The question remains: Why is nothing done?
