The United States Embassy has added its voice to those which are condemning the abduction and brutal murder of two-year-old Professor Lumbe.
Professor was the son of National People’s Party (NPP)’s Mazowe North parliamentary candidate Rambai Lumbe.

Lumbe has blamed Zanu-PF for the murder saying it was payback for defecting from Zanu-PF. In a statement, the embassy said,
We join others in condemning the murder of two-year-old Professor Lumbe – a senseless and horrific act. We echo the call for the perpetrators to be held accountable. We understand an investigation is ongoing, but should this murder prove to be politically motivated, failure to provide justice for Professor and his family will call into question the capability and commitment of Zimbabwe to conduct free, fair, and credible elections, as will a continuation of violence during this campaign season. We send our sincere condolences to the grieving family and express hope that Zimbabweans are spared further bloodshed.
