Cameroon Anglophone Crisis: UNESCO and Unicef ​​Angry Over Destruction Of Schools in the English-Speaking Regions

The two UN agencies warned June 4 secessionists who by their actions prevent the operation of the school in the English-speaking regions of Cameroon.

Since the outbreak of the Anglophone crisis, which has become a secessionist crisis in the North-West and South-West regions, more than 40 schools have been burned down and just over 55,000 children are no longer in attendance because of the insecurity that reigns there. now. It has been almost two years since this part of Cameroon has had a virtually white school year.

Because the secessionists of Ambazonia proceed through the destruction of schools, the assassination of teachers and officials of the education sector. Similarly, these secessionists do not hesitate to intimidate and murder parents trying to send their children to school.

Similarly, secessionists do not fail to kill, parents and students who are in favor of school. Those who have already burned several schools. Faced with this, the official examinations could not take place in these regions.

It is with this alarming realization that the Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Cameroon, Jacques Boyer, and the Director of the United Nations Regional Office for Education, Science and Research, Culture (UNESCO) for Central Africa and Representative for Cameroon, Salah Khaled, both condemned these despicable acts that contribute to the death of school in two English-speaking regions of Cameroon.
The two UN agencies urged the secessionists to immediately release all abducted educational personnel in the southwestern and northwestern regions of Cameroon. For these organizations, no bullying should be tolerated by all well-intentioned partners who seek to promote children's rights to quality education in a safe, protective and secure environment.
No reason can be put forward to justify unwarranted attacks on children.
