A Must Read - Andy Muridzo throws shade at Jah Prayzah

If Andy Muridzo wanted a second chance to redeem his musical career, then he missed it. Born Andy Ngwenya, the silky voiced musician launched a 16 track album titled Munondo.

In the album Muridzo maintains his usual beats of jazz and Mbira but this time he blends in the currently trending Afrobeat sound. In the album Andy Muridzo takes his fight with Military Touch Movement boss Jah Prayzah to another level. It seems Andy’s tenure at the stable hurt him so much.

A lot of people urged Andy to leave MTM claiming that Jah Prayzah was limiting his musical process.

Andy then came out in the open to express how uncomfortable he was at MTM.

The album as the title says was meant to pierce Military Touch Movement boss Jah Prayzah.

Tracks like Matomonyomo directly attack Jah Prayzah. In the chorus, he sings Kunenge kupepetwa kunenge kushandiswa, (Feels like being used.”

He then shouts, “Muchaiona nhamo yacho (You will see the trouble.)

This song is a follow up to the songs “Pakubuda Kwezuva” and “Ngarizhambe”, where he presented himself as a direct rival to Jah Prayzah.

Matomonyomo confirms his hatred of Jah Prayzah. Andy Muridzo while launching the album reportedly made his mother break down in tears while singing the track Mamie mo. The song is a dedication to his mother named Agnes.

The title track Munondo is a call to God asking him to send his double edged sword to strike down the evil in his area.

Muridzo also sings of Mudzepedzete, a local alcoholic drink in his album.

Andy Muridzo gangs up on Jah Prayzah with Sam Dondo in the song Tirivehumambo.

“Pakuchaya ini ndiri muhombe (Im known for beating people),” sings Dondo.

Njerekunje is a lamentation on how people are busy making riches on the backs of others. It is assumed the song is also directed at Jah Prayzah.

The album promotion is however low as he didn’t have put much effort in marketing it. www.mbaretimes.com
