Paul Biya, President of Cameroon, is no doubt, a replica of Robert Mugabe, who was President of Zimbabwe. Mugabe was recently sacked from office via a military coup d’etat which gained popular acceptance by the people.
As at Tuesday, November 21, 2017, Mugabe resigned from the office of President. His action must have been as a result of pressure from the army and some of his Allies amongst African leaders. He was replaced with Mnangagwa Emmerson, his erstwhile deputy.
Paul Biya became President of Cameroon after Ahmadou Ahijo. Initially, he was a close political associate of Ahmadou Ahijo who was President from 1960-1982. Ahijo died on November 30, 1989, at the age of 65 years. Paul Biya became President on November 6, 1982. At the beginning, he was Secretary General of the Presidency (1968-1975), Prime Minister (1975-1982). He succeeded Ahijo who unexpectedly resigned as President in 1982. Biya eventually consolidated power in a 1983-1984 fake attempted coup in which all his political rivals were promptly eliminated and sent to their untimely graves.

Shocking Revelation - Paul Biya Just A French Speaking Replica Of Robert Mugabe |
He is the fifth longest ruling non-royal national political leader since 1900. Paul Barthelemy Biya Muondo was born on February 13, 1933. For the purpose of clarity, and as a politician in the post Independence 1960’s Cameroon, Paul rose to prominence, as Director of the Cabinet of the Minister of National Education in January 1964 and later as Director of the Civil Cabinet of the President in 1967. Ahijo was also Secretary-General of the Presidency while at the same time retained the position of Director of Civil Cabinet in January, 1970. In the same year, he was appointed to the rank of a Minister in August, and he attained the rank of a Minister of State in June, 1970.
In the 1980’s, Biya introduced some political reforms of a one-party system and after being pressured, he accepted a multi-party system in the early 1990s. In 1992, he narrowly won the presidential election with 40%. He was re-elected in 2004 and again, re-elected in 2011. These election results were roundly condemned by the opposition politicians and the Western Governments. Despite the condemnation, Biya still maintained close relations with France, the colonial masters of Cameroon.
As a result of the creation of a Unitary State in 1972, he was elevated to the position of a Prime Minister on June 30, 1975. In June 1979, he was designated the constitutional successor to President Ahmadou Ahijo by the President himself. The resignation of Ahijo in November 1982, paved the way for him to succeed his erstwhile political master.
On April 6, 1984, Biya was lucky to have survived a military coup, as a result of his decision to disband the Republican Guards and disperse its members to the other units of the Army. However, the bloody coup attempt recorded some enormous casualties. About 1,000 soldiers and a few civilians were killed. Northern Muslims were mainly the participants of the coup attempt, probably due to the fact that Paul Biya is a Christian while the ex-President Ahijo was a Muslim. In 1985, the Cameroon National Union (CNU) was transformed into the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM). On April 24, 1988, he was re-elected as President of the Republic.
The political profile of the President cannot be exhausted within the context of this write-up. It can only be added that Paul Biya has been a dictator since his assumption of office as President. Before the last election, he was able to stamp his authority on the National Assembly to extend his tenure for another seven years. In fact, this tenure elongation was illegal and at variance with the constitution of the Republic. Without the tenure extension, Paul Biya ought to have left office, which was the terminal of his election mandate. At the moment, the Anglo Phone Western Cameroon has opted for a separate autonomous status of a sovereign nation. Biya’s reaction was to send soldiers to the enclave to crush the peaceful agitation with maximum force. Already, 17 of the agitators have been murdered in cold blood.
That Biya has been in office for 35 years is a manipulation of tyrants. It is so obvious that at the end of his present illegal tenure, he might move again for another tenure elongation. Cameroon which is regarded as a banana republic is not the property of the Biya’s family. Failure to step aside as President, now, shall be a clear indication that Biya is likely to be disgraced from office just as the 93-year-old Robert Mugabe has experienced in Zimbabwe. Paul Biya may not be as fortunate as Mugabe. He might be assassinated in a military takeover. The earlier, the better for him to quit his duty post as President in order to have a robust respect amongst his people and the comity of nations.
He must relinquish power, no matter the circumstances. History has revealed that deft dictators are liable to be killed when they never expected. newtelegraphonline.com
