Nadine Njoya, UNHCR Official In Switzerland Call Anglophones “Terrorists” - Pleas For Government Brutal Repression ... Read

A UNHCR employee was queried by her hierarchy after describing Anglophones as “terrorists” on social networks media.

Cameroon’s Nadine Njoya, an employee of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), has just been asked to apologize and explain to anglophones, after publishing a comment on her Facebook account, which the UN considered “hateful” to anglophones.

According to information relayed by the site Inner City Press, on September 5, Nadine Njoya, wrote, following a post in relation to the Anglophone problem: «Ce sont de véritables terroristes et il font croire au monde qu’il s’agit d’un mouvement populaire. Il est temps de mettre en place une répression plus dure en espérant que cela calme un peu ces bandits de grands chemins et ceux qui sont tapis dans l’ombre»

Loosely translated as “They are real terrorists and they make believe the world that ‘this is a popular movement. It is time to put an end to this with a tough crackdown, hoping that it calms a little these vagabonds (highway robbers) and those who are hiding in the shadows “. The international media quickly seized the information and the site Inner City Press called on the spokesman of the Secretary General of the UN, Stephane Dujarric on the subject. The newspaper reported that it returned the ball to UNHCR, which, through its spokesperson Ms Fleming, provided the organization’s response on this issue.

According to the latter, “the comments posted were not an official position of the UNHCR and were carried out legitimately by a member of our staff. Please note that this member has since deleted the message after understanding that it was inappropriate to do so and after receiving death threats. ”

The UNHCR spokesperson also shared Nadine Njoya’s explanation with her hierarchy on the subject. “… I confirm that I made a comment on Tuesday 05/09 on my personal Facebook account. This comment was intended to give my opinion on the content of certain leaflets carrying threat messages which are currently sent by persons unknown in my country Cameroon “, she explains

” You will notice, that parents are warned of not to send their children to school and these people clearly promise to kill the children who would be sent to school or anyone who does not respect “Ghost towns”. Therefore, my comment was to condemn the authors of these messages, “

At the time of her comment, the UNHCR employee believed that the rights of Cameroonian children to safety, life and education were violated and that fear and terror were spread among the population. “It is unfortunate that my words have been taken out of context. I took note of your advice and be informed that I had to delete my Facebook account, “laments Nadine Njoya.

Now employed by UNHCR, Nadine Njoya studied at the Lycée d’Anguissa in Yaoundé and then the ENAM, reading public administration . She was subsequently recruited from the United Nations. She previously worked in Southern Sudan, Greece, Gabon, before being appointed as the UNHCR Community Protection Officer in Geneva, Switzerland.

Hope this serves as a warning to those Franchophones who have been threatening and insulting the entire anglophone community without distinction as terrorists, secessionists, extremists and as Ambazonians in a very mockery way “les Amabazozos”. Some proceed to call on Government to completely repress and suppress freedom of speech within the anglophone community without calling on government to take meaningful action / dialogue to resolve the exploding anglophone problem.
